JOB SUMMARY:
The Evening Shift Manager is responsible for managing fabrication (welding) operations and electrical integration activities for modular skids and electrical buildings during assigned shifts. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. The Manager provides hands-on leadership to welders and technicians while coordinating closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Own evening shift execution of the build schedule across fabrication and electrical work centers; align headcount, skills, materials, and equipment.
· Remove bottlenecks and rebalance work as needed.
· Coordinate with Maintenance for downtime planning and real‑time response to equipment issues.
· Ensure workmanship meets quality standards and that nonconformances are contained, documented, and dispositioned quickly.
· Lead the team, set clear expectations, coach, and hold the team accountable.
· Manage shift assignment of work, breaks, overtime, and cross‑training, address performance and attendance promptly.
· Responsible for the health and safety and safety of 2nd shift teammates; Safety first and last.
· Coordinate factory movements as needed to prepare enable 1st shift productivity
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Working knowledge of fabrication (e.g., cutting, fitting, welding) and electrical practices.
· Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material flow.
· Proficiency with Excel, SharePoint/Office 365, and ERP/MES transactions.
· Excellent communication skills written and verbal; clear/concise daily tie ins to 1st shift will be required
Work Experience:
· 8+ years of experience in manufacturing operations with at least 5 years in a supervisory/lead role.
Education: High School Diploma or certification from a technical school.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
